Mrs. Peggy Whiten
Mrs. Peggy Ruth Whitmire Whiten, a devoted wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.
Born December 14, 1953 in Stephens County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mattie Whitmire. She devoted her life to working with children at church, serving in various roles, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Bible Drill. Peggy, a member of Broad River Baptist Church, quietly shared her strong values and religious beliefs with her family and friends through her daily Christian walk. She enjoyed reading and completing puzzles. She and her husband loved their trips to the mountains, Helen and cruises.
Peggy retired from Northridge Nursing Home in medical records.
Peggy is survived by her husband, William (Billy) O. Whiten; her daughters, Jennifer Goss (Greg), Gail Whiten (Clay Kelley), Susan Marcus (Jody); her sisters, Sarah Wright, Susan Charles (Phillip), and Earlene Whitmire; grandchildren, Cody Weaver, Kaitlyn Rosamond (Bob), Matt Goss, Tana Goss, Heather Marcus, and Kristi Marcus; 5 great-grandchildren and a very special great-niece, Oaklee Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mattie Whitmire, and her sister, Mary Ivester.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6pm – 8pm Friday, June 13, 2025.
Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary at eleven o’clock Saturday, June 14, 2025 with Dr. Tommy Childress officiating.
Burial services will follow at Roselane Cemetery.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Greg Goss, Jody Marcus, Matt Goss, Cody Weaver, Clay Kelley, Jimmy Whiten, and Ronnie Stroud.
