Mrs. Nellie Ann Sheriff Herron

Mrs. Nellie Sheriff Herron, age 85, of Eastanollee, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 at her home.

Born July 27, 1940 in Stephens County, GA, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Lottie Pressley Sheriff.

Nellie ran a daycare for 36 years (opened in 1989).  She loved each and every one of her children she kept.  Her daycare was the light of her life.  She would always sing hymns while rocking her babies to sleep.  She loved her family deeply and was loved by so many.

Family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Wanda Herron; granddaughters and their spouses, Melissa Wallace and Stephen, Amy Guizlo and Luke, and Summer Herron; great-grandchildren, Connor Wallace, Blakely Wallace, George Guizlo, and Henry Guizlo; a sister, Hazel Adams; her brother, Leonard Sheriff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Judson “Fain” Herron; her son, Brian Herron; and sisters, Christine Mullinix, Eleanor Fain, Betty Stowe, and Lois Finley.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 12 noon until the service hour on August 5, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Wayne Marcus officiating.

The family will have a private graveside service.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Luke Guizlo, Stephen Wallace, Connor Wallace, Lane Presley, Kevin Cox, and Josh Rickman.

Flowers are optional.  Those desiring may make memorial donations to Tom’s Creek Baptist Church at 3604 Hwy 145 Martin, GA 30557.

The family would like to thank the staff of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Hospice of Northeast Georgia, and all of the family and friends who visited Nellie.
