Mrs. Mary Ellen Ramthum Alumbaugh

Mrs. Mary Ellen Ramthum Alumbaugh, age 77 of Hayes Street, Toccoa passed away Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A daughter of the late Emma Ramthum, she was born February 8, 1949, in Springfield, Illinois having lived in Toccoa since 1990.  She was retired from Coats America.  She loved the Lord and was a member of True Gospel Holiness Church.  She along with her husband sang gospel music under the name of Guiding Light.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and loved and respected by all who came in contact with her.  She enjoyed camping and loved her dog, Bella.

She was preceded in death by her mother and by a brother, Joseph Ramthum.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Fred Alumbaugh of the home; son, Michael Bartholomew of Florida; daughter, Melinda Shafer of Florida; grandchildren, Aaron Shafer, Chrisopher Shafer, Iyza Alumbaugh, Garbriel Alumbaugh, Keishah Alumbaugh, Noah Alumbaugh, Luke Alumbaugh, Jordan Combs, Ethan Combs and Owen Combs; step-son, Daniel Alumbaugh of Toccoa; step-daughter, Alysia Combs (Tori) of Illinois.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 2, 2026, 2 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Marvin Brown and The Reverend Aaron Elrod officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Chad Howard, Michael Bartholomew and Daniel Alumbaugh.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Mary Ellen Alumbaugh.
