Mrs. Jeanette Elese Hare Holbrooks

Mrs. Jeanette Elese Hare Holbrooks, age 91, of Toccoa went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 after a long illness.

She was born September 12, 1933, in Oconee County, South Carolina to the late Harrison Arklus Hare and the late Margie Cooper Hare. She lived most of her life in Toccoa, Georgia. She worked over 30 years at the Wright Manufacturing Company and later with the Stephens County School System. She was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and the Joy Sunday School Class until her illness. She loved her family and working in her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Asbury Holbrooks, her daughter, Judy Diane Holbrooks Slocum, her sister, Elizabeth Benfield, and her great-great grandson, Stephen Case Pless.

Survivors include her daughter, Elese Holbrooks Rose (Mike); son, Larry Holbrooks; son-in-law, Roger Slocum; grandchildren, Melissa Rose Pless (Stephen), Nicholas Holbrooks, Clay Slocum (Anna), and Curt Slocum; great-grandchildren, Dalton Pless (LeeAnna), Luke Holbrooks, and Abby and Avery Slocum; great-great grandchildren, Bowen and Chloe Pless; sister, Velma Carswell.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 25, 2024, 1 o’clock p.m. at Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Ken Jackson and the Reverend Harris Pressley officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Stephen Pless, Dalton Pless, Nicholas Holbrooks, Clay Slocum, Curt Slocum, and David Stewart.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Interment will follow in the Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Jeanette Elese Hare Holbrooks.
