Mrs. Jeanette Carpenter Purcell

Mrs. Jeanette Carpenter Purcell, age 97, of Toccoa, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at Stephens County Hospital.

The daughter of the late Harley and Viola Taylor Carpenter, she was born May 17, 1928, in Stephens County, Georgia, where she lived her entire life. She retired from The Bank of Toccoa after 46 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Purcell was a member of Toccoa First Methodist Church, where she played the piano for her Sunday School class and was a longtime member of the Choir. She loved baking cakes and likely baked hundreds over the years. She was the oldest member of the Taylor family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Purcell, in 2010, and by her brother and sister-in-law, Welton and Ruth Carpenter.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Gerald Shedd of Toccoa; son, Doug Purcell of Estero, Florida; grandchildren, Evan (Kristin) Purcell, David (Allison) Purcell, Luke Purcell, Jill (Greg) McCall; great-grandchildren, Henry, Maeve, and Miles, Dustin, Davis and Brenna; great-great-grandson, Grady McCall; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff at The Clary Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Toccoa First Methodist Church, with Mr. Ken White and the Reverend April Briant officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Steve Jarrett, Greg McCall, Dustin McCall, Davis McCall, Philip East and Dale Crump.

The family will receive friends at Toccoa First Methodist Church on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens, with Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Jeanette Carpenter Purcell.
