Mrs. Clara “Lucy” Griffin Dover

Mrs. Clara “Lucy” Griffin Dover, age 87, of Toccoa, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at her home.
Born April 9, 1939 in Alto, GA, she was the daughter of the late James Worth and Amanda Bell Martin Griffin.
Lucy was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and the warmth she showed to everyone she met. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.
Lucy will be remembered for her enormous strength, her generous spirit, and the deep love she had for her children and extended family. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of those who love her.  Lucy graduated from Stephens County High School in 1957.  She spent many years as a teacher’s aide at Merritts Elementary school.  She had a passion for children and loved helping them learn and grow. After leaving the school system, she and her husband founded Bobby Dover Farms, Inc., a poultry farming and home construction business, where she served as president until her passing. She would say that her biggest accomplishment was raising her three children.  She was always their biggest advocate.
Above all, Lucy loved the Lord and lived her faith out loud. She was a member of Carnes Creek Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for the four-and five- year-old class and helped with Bible School for many years.  She was also a member of the WMU.
Family members include her sons, Steve Dover (Tammy) of Chattanooga, TN, and Michael Dover of Toccoa; daughter, LaJuan Jones (Scott) of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Christopher Dover, Tiffany Dover Whited (Justin), Dustin Jones (Karen), Melissa Wilkinson (Russell) and Analiese Stopek (Kyle); brother, Donald Griffin (Joan); sister, Brinda McFarlin (Sammy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clint “Bobby” Dover; brother, Terrell Griffin; sister-in-law, Jan Griffin; sister, Laverne Hilley; and brother-in-law Jack Hilley.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 6pm – 8pm.
