Mrs. Callie Westmoreland Copelan

Callie Westmoreland Copelan, born November 6,1939, in Blairsville, Georgia, was peacefully called home on Sunday, June 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85 years old.
Survived by her “girls”, Cathey Westmoreland Camacho (James), Lisa Westmoreland Cowart (Butch), and Kimberly Westmoreland Oliver (Darrell), and by Demarice Copelan Hanes (John), Cathy Copelan Vonier (Wendell), and Jay Copelan (Kelly).  Also surviving are sisters-in-law Sharon Jansson of Toccoa, Georgia, Lillian Westmoreland of Cleveland, Georgia, and Frances Seabolt of Hartwell, Georgia, and brothers-in-law, Royce Martin of Cleveland, Georgia and Ron Connery of Altamonte Springs, Florida.
She was widowed at the age of 45 when her husband of 28 years, Aron Julian Westmoreland, passed in 1984. Five years later, she was introduced to Willie Copelan by mutual friends, and he was a close companion for 18 years. They finally married in 2009 and were married for two years until he passed in 2011.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, Arch Caleb Seabolt and Julia Wilkins Seabolt, and her siblings, Linda Connery, Fletcher Seabolt, John David (JD) Seabolt, Gladys Wehunt, Thelma Lance, and Hilda Fain. Also known as Memama, she was dearly loved by twelve grandchildren, Carrie Cowart Denham, Clayton Cowart, Seth Oliver, Alexandria Oliver, Sam Oliver, Jonathan Camacho, Wes Vonier, Marcus Vonier, Joshua Hanes, Jared Copelan, Anna Carter, and Joseph Powell (JP) Copelan, thirteen great grandchildren, and many extended family members.
Originally from Cleveland, Georgia, Callie and Julian met, married, and lived there until their move to Toccoa, Georgia in 1967 as owners of the Dairy Queen on East Currahee Street that they owned together until Julian’s death in 1984. Carrying forward plans Julian made before his death, Callie partnered with other owners and opened and operated Memory Mobile Homes on Highway 17 in Toccoa, and afterward she opened and operated Memory Realty until she retired in 2008. She relocated to Mt. Airy, Georgia in 2007 to be closer to Willie because she worried about him “driving up and down the mountain every day,” and lived there until her death.
Callie was a strong believer in the promises of our Lord Jesus Christ, knew she would be met by Him to welcome her to her heavenly home, and looked forward to seeing her loved ones who went before her. She was a long-time, faithful, and active member of Sunnyside Baptist Church in Toccoa. The members of the congregation, and especially her Sunday School Class, were a significant part of her life and among her dearest friends.
She was talented and enjoyed sewing, gardening, and flower arranging. She was a kind-hearted, generous, and a loving wife and mother, mother-in-love, Memama, and friend to many, who are fortunate to have had her in their lives.
The family will receive friends at Sunnyside Baptist Church from 9:30am until the service hour Friday, June 13, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 13, 2025 at Sunnyside Baptist Church with Dr. Jesse Colbert and Dr. Roy Rogers officiating, with remarks from Clayton Cowart and Carrie Cowart Denham.
