Mrs. Betty Jo (Andrews) Black
Our beloved “Mama” and “Grandmama” Mrs. Betty Jo (Andrews) Black gained her angel wings on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Born on May 7th, 1943 in Toccoa, Georgia, she was the cherished daughter of Lamb and Myrtle Kelly Andrews and the youngest of nine siblings – Lorena, Claudine, Artis, Bonnie Sue, Geneva, Latrelle, Billy and Sybil.
Betty Jo was a woman of Christian faith and a heart full of love. She entered heaven to join her loving husband, Harold Black, her grandson, Casey Smith., and her son-in-law, Jimmy Milford.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her daughters: Vickie Milford of Martin, Teresa Smith (Randy) of Toccoa and Tracy Burt (Mark) of Alabama; her grandchildren: Kelly Whitaker (Josh), Brandi Hallford (Jason), Brystal Bohannon (Josh), Ryan Smith, Jim Milford, Sophie Burt and Whitney Burt; great-grandchildren: Ansley, Austin, Evan, Caroline, Owen, Payson, Adisyn and Rilyn; and great-great-grandchildren: Myer and Malone. She also has many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Grandmama found joy in simple things – sewing, crafting, camping, and most of all, being surrounded by her family. Her home was always spotless, earning her the nickname “the cleaning fairy” because there was never a single dirty dish left in her sink. She had a gentle spirit, a warm smile, full of laughter, and a way of making everyone feel loved and cared for.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at Whitlock Mortuary in Toccoa. Visitation will begin at noon on Sunday October 26 until the service begins at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Tommy Childress will officiate. Burial will follow at the Franklin Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Whitaker, Jason Hallford, Jim Milford, Ryan Smith, Evan Norris, and Owen Whitaker. Allen Keller will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Her love and kindness will continue to shine through her family – a light that will never fade.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers and sign the online guestbook at www.whitlockmortuary.net.
