Mr. Steven William Dessauer

Mr. Steven William Dessauer, age 89 of Currahee Pt., Toccoa passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

A son of the late Steve R. Dessauer and Rose Gasper Dessauer, he was born April 26, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from AT& T with 25 years of service where he assisted in installing the first digital telephone system in the United States.  He loved gardening, technology, refinishing furniture and playing piano.  Steve was the type of person who knew a little of something about everything. After retirement, Steve and Yvonne opened and operated the Appliance Parts of Toccoa and later he worked part time at True Value. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Dessauer.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Yvonne Dumont Dessauer; son, Steven Dessauer of Schererville, Indiana; daughters, Donna Dessauer of New Orleans, Diane Larson of Dunlap, Illinois and Darla Sippos of Garner, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother, David Dessauer of Harrison, Ohio.

The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, May 21 from 9 a.m. until the service time.

Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026, 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Thang (Henry) Pham officiating.  Military Honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
