Mr. Richard A. “Dick” Stalnaker

Mr. Richard A. “Dick” Stalnaker, age 95, of Union, South Carolina, widower of Rosinelle Bobo “Tootsie” Stalnaker, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Union Medical Center.

Mr. Stalnaker was born December 29, 1926 in Atlanta, a son of the late Alexander Stalnaker and Josie Whitman Stalnaker.  He was a graduate of Lockhart High School and retired from BellSouth. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II.  Mr. Stalnaker was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where was the last original member of the “Sunshine Class” now the Bill Goodwin Sunday School Class.  He was a member of Union Masonic Lodge No. 75 and was the oldest Worshipful Master in South Carolina and possibly the United States.  He was member of the Scottish Rites, York Rites, and the Knights Templar.

Surviving are a daughter, Betsy Hobbs and husband Phil of Toccoa, GA; a son, Mike Stalnaker and wife Angie of Union; three grandchildren, Ashley Stalnaker Blackwell and husband Steven, Richard Ross Hobbs, and Benjamin Michael Hobbs; and two great-granddaughters, Harper Grace Blackwell and Hattie Mae Blackwell.  He was predeceased by a sister, and three brothers.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 :00 PM Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Benny Green.  Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.
