Mr. Randolph Parker Harper **Note Visitation Change Due to Weather**
Mr. Randolph Parker Harper, age 94, of Toccoa, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born November 7, 1925 in Elberton, GA, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Elizabeth Blackmon Harper.
He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was retired from WABCO as an electrician. He owned and operated Harper’s Body Shop with the first frame machine in Northeast Georgia. He also enjoyed raising and selling Bulldogs. Mr. Harper was a WWII Army Veteran and was well decorated. He was a Purple Heart Recipient, and was a member of the 503 Paratroopers and was injured on Corregidor Island, Philippines. He was a proud graduate of the Fort McClellan, AL Jump School and was an expert Sharp Shooter and Bazooka Firer. Randolph was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Family members include his sons and a daughter-in-law, Darrell Harper, Gary and Tamie Harper all of Toccoa; daughter, Jane Harper Freeman of Martin; grandchildren, Angie and Billy Bennett, Kelly Mateos, Scott and Jessa Freeman, and Nicholas Harper; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Bryant Harper; his daughter, Judy Harper Kimsey; and by eleven brothers and sisters. Mr. Harper was the last member of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Sunday, February 9, 2020 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.
Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens with Dr. Tommy Childress officiating at the graveside service. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the V. F. W. Post 4346.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Scott Freeman, Darrell Harper, Gary Harper, Claude Childs, and Dr. Bill McDougal.
Henry Brown will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Visitation: Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 2pm – 4pm and Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 12 noon until the service.
