Mr. Leonard Griffin

Mr. Leonard Griffin of Toccoa, GA passed away peacefully on November 21, 2022 after an extended illness.  He was 72 years old.

Leonard was born July 30, 1950 to Frank and Lucille Parker Griffin in Charlotte, NC.  Leonard was the owner of Leonard Griffin Builders for over 40 years.  During that time, he built homes of peoples’ dreams, remodeled and improved homes, and built commercial properties throughout NE Georgia.  Most recently he was the Maintenance and Construction Director at Camp Mikell in Toccoa.  He built and restored cabins and facilities at the Camp for current and previous generations who went to the camp to enjoy and make memories.  His final residential home was the first home he built after he opened his company.  He and his wife Annette purchased the home and lovingly restored it into a beautiful respite where many memories, love, and joy have been shared.

In the community he was President of the Toccoa Little League and during his tenure he took a team of Junior League World Series.  He served as a Stephens County Commissioner for four years and was a graduate of Leadership Toccoa.  Leonard graduated from Charlotte Christian High School and afterward attended Toccoa Falls College.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Toccoa.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Debbie Smith.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Annette Cardin Griffin; his sons, Chris (Kristi) Griffin of Flowery Branch, GA and Jonathan (Melanie) Griffin of Colleyville, TX; daughter, Amy (Jamie) Davis of Eastanollee, GA; step-sons, Adam (Sarah) Payne of Hickory, NC and Ben (Amber) Payne of Cornelia, GA; step-daughter, Hannah (Freddie) Walker of Athens, GA.  He was blessed with many grandchildren, Josie and Jenna Griffin, Connor and Katie Griffin, and Madie and Macie Davis; step-grandchildren, Kelsie, Stella, Judah, and Gemma Payne, Knox and Eva Payne, and Katy and Chase Deml.  Leonard is also blessed with two sisters, Gail Griffin of Spartanburg, SC and Sheila (Randy) Gilbert of St. Johns, FL.  Leonard was also fortunate to have Uncle Jim and Aunt Linda Griffin of Indian Land, SC still in his life.  He had may more extended family members include niece and nephews, cousins, and family members of his wife’s family.  His life was full and he was a blessing to many people.

The family will receive friends at the Toccoa First Baptist Church Chapel from 9 am until 10:45am Saturday, December 3, 2022.

A service to Celebrate Leonard’s Life will be held at eleven o’clock Saturday, December 3, 2022 from the Sanctuary of the Toccoa First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Ritcey, the Rev. Brett Sanders, Mr. Randy Gilbert, Mr. Jonathan Griffin, and Mr. Adam Payne officiating.
