Mr. John Milton Merck

Mr. John Milton Merck, age 93 of Toccoa, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026, at his residence.

A son of the late John Max Merck and Fritz Fricks Merck, he was born January 24, 1933, in Stephens County, Georgia having lived a greater part in Stephens County.  Milton was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

He was a graduate of Toccoa High School.  He served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Nereus AS17 during the Korean war. He graduated from Piedmont College with a Degree in chemistry.

He worked for Royal Crown Cola in Columbus, Georgia for 16 years and was a manager of three laboratories. He was a member of the American Chemical Society and the National Soft Drink Association.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, John D. Merck (Tracey) and James D. Merck (Lori); grandchildren, Marlan Merck, Jonathan Merck, and Andrew Merck; great-grandchildren, Sarah Merck, Eva Merck, James Merck, and Ella Merck; bonus grandchildren, Ryan Jones (Jessica) and Coley Jones (Nichole); bonus great-grandchildren, Devin Jones, Kara Jones, Taylor Jones, and Braden Young; several nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister Francis Merck, and two brothers Quinten Merck and Dan Merck.

We love you dad.

No visitation or service is planned.  His wishes were to be cremated.
