Mr. James Walter Jarrett

Mr. James Walter Jarrett, age 88 of Caster Branch Road, Eatonton, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his residence.

A son of the late Walter Morris and Maka Jones Jarrett, he was born August 14, 1932 in Stephens County, Georgia having lived in Toccoa in his early years and the last 55 years in Putnam County.  He was a 1950 graduate of Toccoa High School and a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War.  He was retired from Georgia Power as a Maintenance Supervisor with 30 years of service, was a member of Eatonton Presbyterian Church where he served as an Ordained Elder and Clerk of Session and was a 50 plus year Mason with Rising Star Lodge #4 in Eatonton.  He was a member and past president of Top of Georgia Airstream Club.  He was instrumental in establishing Gatwood Schools in Eatonton.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deanna Jarrett and by two brothers, Donald and Michael Jarrett.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years of the home, Doris Spencer Jarrett; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Wendy Jarrett of Monroe, Georgia, Donald Jarrett and Donna Price and Walter and Lori Jarrett both of Eatonton, Georgia; grandchildren, Devereaux Jarrett and Randi Allard, Andrew and Anna Jarrett, Sarah and Conner Newton, Jessica and Nick Bryant, Makanna Jarrett, Walt Jarrett, Joe Jarrett and Case Price; two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Harrison Jay; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Fran Jarrett of Toccoa.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 10, 2021, 2 O’clock p.m. at the Tugaloo Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Van Nesbitt officiating.  Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Jimmy Jarrett, Donald Jarrett, Walter Jarrett, Andrew Jarrett, Devereaux Jarrett, Walter Jarrett and Joe Jarrett.  Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Nix, Edgar Williamson, Louis Sizer and Bubba Gunn.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday from noon until the service time. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Tugaloo Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James Walter Jarrett.
