Mr. James “Jimmy” Milton Spencer

Mr. James “Jimmy” Milton Spencer, age 89 of Bobby Street, Toccoa passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at his residence.

A son of the late John Terrell Spencer and Dora Wilson Spencer, he was born April 9, 1932 in Oconee County, South Carolina having lived most of his life in Stephens County, Georgia.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force.  He was retired from Hemphill Trucking with 26 years of service and was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Robinson and by three brothers, J.T., Hugh and Maxie Spencer.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Sue Mize Spencer of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Jan and Tommy Minchew and Donna McCall both of Toccoa; grandchildren, Justin and Joni Minchew and Amber McCall; great-grandchildren, Alison Minchew, Austin Minchew and Anna Kate Minchew.

Graveside services will be Friday, November 26, 2021, 2 O’clock p.m. at the Stephens Memorial Gardens with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Justin Minchew, William Mize, Mark Spencer, Jeff Bryant, Ricky Pitts and Alan York.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from noon until time to leave for the service.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
