Mr. James Harold “Big Daddy” Allen
Mr. James Harold “Big Daddy” Allen, age 59 of Toccoa passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Stephens County Hospital.
A son of the late Charlie Junior Allen and Blanch Evans Allen, he was born September 21, 1966, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, having lived most of his life in Toccoa. He was retired Fire Chief of Carnes Creek Station #2, former Civil Air Patrol, EMA and worked with Stephens County in Animal Control. He enjoyed hanging out at Acree-Davis Funeral Home and loved playing with his grandson, J.J. His words ring true, “Don’t cry for me, just have a good time for me.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melissa Denise Reed Allen, daughter, Kayla Lynn Allen and two brothers, Bobby Joe Allen and Jerry Lee Allen.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Jeremy Davenport of Toccoa; grandson, J.J. Davenport; mother-in-law, Rebecca Reed Taylor.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 2, 2026, 3 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Mr. Steven Smith and Mr. Chris Bradberry officiating. The following will serve as pallbearers, Myia Ward-Clark, Josh Smith, Bryon Bennett, Aaron “Skeet” Wilkinson, Blake Simpson, Griffin Clark, Lee Woody and Mark Knox. The following gentlemen will serve as honorary pallbearers, Marvin Brown, Wayne Phillips, Cody Garland and Caleb Shirley. Carnes Creek Station #2 Fire Department will also serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Roselane Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James Harold “Big Daddy” Allen.
