Mr. Gary Lee Ayers

Mr. Gary Lee Ayers, age 59, of Martin, GA, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Stephens County Hospital.

Born May 1, 1966 in Toccoa, he was the son of the late Charles Gilbert and Dorothy V. Stancil Ayers.  He was a member of Mullins Ford Baptist Church and retired in 2009 as a Correctional Officer with Alto State Prison.

Family members include his wife, Patty Griffin Ayers; aunts, Lonora Walters, Wilma Davis, Nancy Peeples (Barry), and Mary Swift; uncle, Frank Stancil; nieces, Kala Griffin and Dena Griffin; nephews, Dustin Griffin and Douglas Sellers (Tasha); great-nephew, Abel Griffin; great-nieces, Halee Sellers, Natalee Sellers, and Kaylee Sellers; sister-in-law, Deborah Sellers; and brother-in-law, Mike Griffin (Cheri).  He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Ayers Gordon.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 10am until 11:45 am Thursday, October 2, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at twelve noon, Thursday, October 2, 2025 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Joey Stewart and the Rev. James Duncan officiating.

A private burial will be at Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as honorary pallbearers; James Elrod, Wayne Stancil, Bradley Elrod, Mike Griffin, Doug Sellers, Johnny Cheek, and Mark Baird.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mullins Ford Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 2310 Parklake Drive, Suite 375, Atlanta, GA 30345.
