Mr. Edgar Lee Gloss

Mr. Edgar Lee Gloss, age 85 of Glendale Street, Toccoa passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the Stephens County Hospital.

A son of the late James W. Gloss and Carrie Morris Gloss, he was born February 25, 1937, in Ellaville, Georgia having lived a greater part of his life in Stephens County, Georgia.  He was a retired building contractor that had the skills to build anything. He was larger than life as stated by his family, was an amazing woodworker, had a great sense of humor and loved his family. He loved fishing and gardening and over the years had been a part of many mission trips with the First Baptist Church where he was a member.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Bray, his son, Roger Gloss and by a grandson, Thomas Finley.

Survivors include four daughters, Sheila Finley, of Toccoa, Tammie Jourdanais of Royston, Carrie Lancaster (Stephen Fleming) of Toccoa and Millie Herrington of Pelham, Georgia; grandchildren, Madison Johnson, Kimberly Finley, Robert Gloss, Bryson Ramsey, Eric Herrington, Anthony Lancaster, Branden Fleming, Serenity Herrington, Harper Brannon, Kristen and Zackary Miller, Macie (Dr. Michael) Brittingham, Corbett Bray and Morgan Thigpen; several great-grandchildren and known as “Papa” to many other children; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Margaret Gloss of Jefferson, Georgia and Jim and Margie Bowen of Americus, Georgia.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 25, 2023, 2 o’clock p.m. at the First Baptist Chapel Toccoa with The Reverend David Ritcey and The Reverend Brett Sanders officiating.  The following family members and friends will serve as pallbearers, Bryson Ramsey, Anthony Lancaster, Robert Gloss, Corbett Thigpen, Joe Walters and Branden Fleming.

Interment will follow in the Roselane Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Edgar Lee Gloss.
