Mr. Arthur “Effie” Macon Walker

Mr. Arthur “Effie” Macon Walker, age 91 of Line Road, Toccoa passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at the Stephens County Hospital.

The son of the late Burnell and Flora Belle Roberts Walker, he was born December 30, 1928 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived the greater part of his life. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He was retired from General Mills with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Encouragers Sunday School Class, a member of the V.F.W. Post 4346, Elk’s Lodge, Civitan Club and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Anderson Walker in 1984 and by a grandson, David Thacker.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Alice Jarrett Anderson Walker; two daughters and son-in-law, Cindy and Ben Thacker of Fayetteville, Georgia and Tracy Walker of Sugar Hill; step-sons, Keith Anderson and wife Pam and Tony Anderson and wife Angie both of Toccoa; grandchildren; Christie and Trey Trantham, John Thacker, Andrea Thacker and Macon Walker, Jessica and Brian Fitzgerald, Samantha and Seth White, Josie Anderson, Kaleigh Anderson, Kit Anderson, Kirtus Anderson, Kas Anderson, Karissa Anderson, Danielle Anderson and Leslie Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Molly Fitzgerald and Abigail Fitzgerald; sisters, Ruth Alexander of Greenville and Jessie Thomason of Toccoa.

Graveside service will be Sunday, May 24, 2020, 3 o’clock p.m. at the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Ben Thacker and the Reverend Andy Childs officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Trey Trantham, John Thacker, Macon Walker, Kit Anderson, Kirtus Anderson and Kas Anderson.

Military honors will be provided by Georgia National Guard and V.F.W #4346

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Arthur “Effie” Walker.
