Morning Collision Results in Fatality and Injuries

Officials were on the scene of a head-on accident throughout this (Fri) morning at the intersection of Highways 106 and 320 in Stephens County near the Franklin County line.

The accident happened around 9 A.M. this morning and according to WNEG’s sister station WLHR, the calls originally stated the accident was in Franklin County with emergency crews including Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies, EMS and fire department personnel dispatched to the location.

Upon arrival, it was determined the accident was actually in Stephens County and emergency crews from Stephens County and Georgia State Patrol troopers took the lead in the investigation.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas, one fatality has been confirmed and a child was transported to a Greenville, South Carolina hospital along with an adult female with serious injuries.

According to Stephens County Coroner Chris Stephens the identity of the deceased is not being released at this time until all family members have been notified.
