Mario the Maker Magician returning to the Ritz

The Historic Ritz Theatre is bringing back a popular act.

After a sold-out show two years ago, Mario the Maker Magician will return to the Historic Ritz Theatre on Friday, January 28.

The show will start at 7:00 p.m. and is a Night at the Ritz performance.

Ritz Theatre General Manager Tami Mayhugh says Mario is more than just a performer, he’s also an inventor who creates his own props. He is known for his dedication to the Maker Movement and STEM initiatives and his integration of DIY electronics and robotics into his performance.

Mayhugh says it’s magic through the lens of the Maker Movement, a trend in which individuals or groups of individuals create and market products that are recreated and assembled using unused, discarded, or broken electronic, plastic, silicon or virtually any raw material and or products from a computer-related device. Throw in a healthy dose of hilarity and you have Mario.

According to Mayhugh, Mario is the modern age’s Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, with a made inventor twist and has been featured on Sesame Street and Sprout.

The show is ideal for ages 3-10 and their families and runs approximately 60 minutes, without intermission.

Mayhugh says this Night at the Ritz Performance is the first of 2022.

Night at the Ritz is funded in part by grants received from the National Endowment for the Arts and Georgia Council for the Arts.

Tickets can be purchased online at ritztheatretoccoa.com, at the Main Street Office, or at the box office the day of the show.

Adult tickets are $10, children under 12 and students with an ID are $5.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

Again, come to the Ritz on January 28, for Mario the Maker Magician.
