Main Street Toccoa Receives Another Georgia Arts Council Grant

Main Street Toccoa is once again the recipient of a grant from the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Georgia Council for the Arts.

On Monday, the GCA announced the recipients of its Partner, Project and Arts Education grants for fiscal year 2019.

Main Street Toccoa was of 132 organizations throughout the state that were collectively awarded more than $1 million in funding.

Main Street Manager Christian Hamilton says they received $7,000 in grant money, which will be matched by the City of Toccoa.

Hamilton says the money will go towards their 2019 performance series.

“We will be using the funds for that to host Season 2 of Night at the Ritz,” he said. “Season 1 of Night at the Ritz consisted of six shows over six months. We haven’t fully gotten our season together yet, but we hope to have that again this year. And as last year, all shows will be affordably priced so that the entire family can attend and that is due, in part, to the grant funds received.”

Hamilton said last year’s Night at the Ritz series was very well received and he’s looking forward to another successful season.

“It was wonderful. Most shows were very well received. So, we’re hoping to do some new things this year to sort of mix it up a bit. But if it’s anything like last year it will be another wonderful event,” he said.

Funds awarded by Georgia Council for the Arts include appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
