Main Street Seeking Model Trains for Upcoming Train Day

As we’ve been telling you, Toccoa Train Day is coming up this weekend and Monday evening, the Toccoa City Commission approved a proclamation officially designating June 14th as Toccoa Train Day, though events are scheduled for Saturday.

In addition to the many events already planned, Toccoa Main Street Manager Christian Hamilton said they are also inviting train enthusiasts with model trains to display them for the public.

“A lot of residents like to collect (model) trains. So, we’re inviting local residents to set up exhibits. We’ll be doing that at the Mitchell Allen Meeting Room. If you have an exhibit or know someone who does, we would love to include them in Train Day,” Hamilton said.

If you have a train set you would like to display, you can contact Toccoa Main Street between now and Friday.

Toccoa began celebrating Toccoa Train Day nine years ago as part of National Train Day.
National Train Day was started by Amtrak in 2008 as a way to spread information about the advantages of railway travel as well as educate people about the history of trains in the US.
