Lula man arrested during traffic stop by SCSO

A Lula man was arrested last week after a traffic stop lead to the discovery of drugs.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on September 8, a deputy with his office initiated a traffic stop on a green Jeep on Falls Road, for a seatbelt violation.

As the vehicle was pulling over, the deputy noticed significant movement from the front seat passenger, who was reaching in the back seat area.

Shirley says, the deputy then made contact with the occupants who were extremely nervous.

The deputy asked the passenger to step out of the vehicle.

The deputy asked and was granted consent to search the vehicle by the driver.

Upon searching the vehicle, the deputy looked inside of the passenger’s wallet and noticed several pieces of aluminum foil folded up with residual burnt powder and a partial pill was found inside different parts of the wallet.

The pill was identified as Oxycodone, a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Devin Mullinax, 23, of Lula was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and a seatbelt violation.

He was taken to the Stephens County Jail where he was released after posting a $6,000 bond.
