Lorraine Anne Kimball Patterson
Lorraine Anne Kimball Patterson went home at 8:00 AM Sunday, June 8, 2025, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Lorraine was born in Waterville, Maine on March 3, 1939, the only child of Lillian Irene McNeil and Halsey Edward Kimball.
She grew up in Presque Isle, Maine. While she was yet a young child, her father volunteered to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. While he was away in the South Pacific, she and her mother lived in a small mobile home in Presque Isle waiting his return from serving his country.
Lorraine was a graduate of Presque Isle High school. She was chosen by her school to be a delegate to “Girls State”. She was a member of the Presque Isle High School Band, a member of the All-State Orchestra, and an honor student. She also was a member of the Rainbow Girls.
She lived most of her life in Presque Isle, Maine, until her husband was killed in an automobile accident. After that, she moved to Orrington, Maine to place her children in a Christian School. While in Orrington, she met and married James Patterson, who lived in Levant, Maine. After living on the farm in Levant, Maine for 8 years, Lorraine and Jim moved to Toccoa, Georgia where they have since lived on Wesley Circle.
Extensive genealogical research, from several sources, indicates that Lorraine was the first cousin of Capt. Robert Russell Williams, Commander of the USS Finback, which rescued President George H. W. Bush from the Pacific Ocean when he was shot down during WWII.
Lorraine is predeceased by her parents, her son, Mark William Pelletier; brothers-in-law, William Edward Patterson, John Trenton Patterson, Michael Walter Avery, Orville Gerald Eaves; sister-in-law, Anne Faye Murray and her granddaughter’s husband, James E. Griffin.
Survivors include her husband, James Wayne Patterson; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Marilyn Walker of Hoschton, GA; son, Scott Halsey Pelletier and wife Melanie Ruth Jeskey of Glenburn, Maine; and daughter Kimberly Anne Wilson Coakley and husband Brian Paul Coakley of Toccoa, Georgia; grandchildren: Brayden Walker Pelletier and wife Tiffany Blank Pelletier of Braselton, GA, Ashley Michelle Pelletier and husband John Poulnot of Suwanee, GA; Lauren Elizabeth Pelletier and husband Josh Swinwood of Monroe, GA; Nicole Marie Pelletier and husband Scott Griffin of Levant, Maine; Nicholas Scott Peletier of Glenburn, Maine; Marissa Anne Coakley and husband Rev. Other surviving family members are sisters-in-law, Janet Ruth MacPherson Patterson of Carnesville, GA, Marie Patterson of Baldwin, GA, Glenda Ann Patterson Avery Eaves of Woodstock, GA, Lula Faye Patterson Robinson and husband Walter of Bowden, GA; several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
Lorraine is a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was very active in its many programs. She was active in helping on various committees, including the Christmas Prison outreach ministry, delivering meals to the homebound, visiting nursing homes, bereavement committee, Sunday school secretary, greeting committee and member of church finance committee. Lorraine also devoted 20 years of coordinating and preparing meals for Church family members who died.
When “Jim” and Lorraine were married, Jim wanted to take her to Europe on a honeymoon; however, Lorraine declined because she realized he was very deeply in debt and such a trip would simply add to the financial burden. He was richly blessed for this decision because shortly thereafter they would travel and keep traveling. The first trip was from their home in Levant, Maine to Prince Edward Island for their honeymoon getaway. They stayed in a quaint cottage in Rustico where they made life-long friends with the owners.
Although Jim had traveled worldwide in his duties with the U.S. Navy, Lorraine and Jim did a lot of traveling which included 39 vacations to Hawaii, vacation to Nova Scotia; Cancun; Marti Gras; Jamaica; Montreal and Quebec City Canada; Edmonton, Alberta Canada (including the Canadian Rockies staying in a beautiful cottage beside a glacial river); Ireland; England; Spain; The Alamo; Branson, Missouri; Alaskan Cruise; Caribbean Cruise, two vacations to France; Germany; and two vacations to Switzerland and Austria. She has also visited all of the 50 States of the United States and viewed the Memorial erected to her ancient cousin, George Kimball who brought about 30 of his Texas Rangers to the Alamo to help some of our historical heroes defend that Mission against the Mexican army. They all perished in that battle.
Other highlights during her travels include seeing Buckingham Palace, several excursions by rail through the Swiss and Austrian Alps viewing the villages along the way; a trip to the Alpine home of Hitler; The Isle of Capri, two trips from an Alpine Village by cog railway to the base of the Matterhorn, the ruins of Pompei, and many other Palaces and historical sights too numerous to list.
But her most beautiful trip is the one she is now traversing, which is to Heaven to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, where she can spend eternity away from all the pain and suffering, she has endured here on Earth.
Lorraine has always been a kind and loving person to all who knew her. Not only did she care for the welfare of others, she cared for her family dearly and was loved by all who met her.
