Little League Update – Toccoa 10U to Play Tonight in a Must-Win Game Against Hart
The Toccoa All-Stars won a game and lost a game this past weekend at the District 7 Little League 10 & Under Baseball Tournament being held at Oglethorpe County. Toccoa had a great start in their first game Saturday, scoring 6 runs in the first inning against Oglethorpe County on their way to a 13 to 2 win in 4 innings over the host team, Oglethorpe County.
Toccoa’s pitchers Ryan Hill and Brayden Figueroa combined to give up only 3 hits. Oglethorpe’s only runs came in the final inning. Toccoa did not fare as well in Sunday’s game. Elbert scored 3 runs in the second inning, 5 in the 4th, 3 in the 5th, and added 5 more in the final inning to win 16 to 4. Toccoa had 7 hits in the game, and their 4 runs all came in the 4th inning.
Also on Saturday, Franklin County, in their first game of the District 7 Little League 10 & Under Baseball Tournament in Oglethorpe County, triumphed over Hart County, 8-3, and on Saturday, Franklin topped Rabun 20-9.
Next up for Toccoa is Hart County tonight at 8:30 p.m. in the double-elimination tournament—a game they must win to continue to play. They will play on field 1 at Oglethorpe Little League’s Bryan Park, 34 Lakeshore Drive, Crawford. WNEG will broadcast the game with airtime at approximately 8:15 p.m.
Also tonight, Oglethorpe will take on Rabun on Field 1 at 6 p.m. Tomorrow, June 18, the winner of the Oglethorpe/Rabun game will with the take on the winner of the Toccoa/Hart game at 8:30 p.m. and Elbert will take on Franklin in the winner’s bracket tomorrow, June 18, at 6 p.m. on field 1 at Oglethorpe Little League’s Bryan Park, 34 Lakeshore Drive, Crawford.
At the State Sandlot Softball Tournament in Warner Robins, Toccoa ended their play at the tournament on Saturday with a 12 to 7 loss to Jones County.
In the 9-11 baseball All-Stars Tournament, Franklin secured back-to-back wins over Rabun to take home the championship banner. They now head to the state tournament in Peachtree City, which begins on July 6.
