Lions Take Game Two in Indians Final Series

The Franklin County Lions evened up their three-game series with the Stephens County Indians Wednesday evening by topping the Indians 7 to 4.

The Lions scored a run without a hit in the top of the first inning. Then added two more runs in the second inning to take a 3 to 0 lead.

Stephens County got on the board in the fifth inning when William Roush doubled off the fence in left field. Garrett Pless singled him home for the first run of the game for the Indians.

Franklin County put together four runs on four hits in the top of the sixth inning to take a 7 to 1 lead.

The Indians got two runs in the sixth inning when Franklin County committed three errors.

One more run would cross the plate for the Indians in the bottom of the seventh, but that was as close as they could get.

Garrett Pless took the loss, pitching five and two-third innings, giving up 6 runs, walking four and striking out 2. Duncan Beasley went the distance for the Lions, scattering seven hits and striking out 7.

Stephens County is now 13-14 on the season overall and 4-10 in region play. Franklin County is 22-6 overall and 13-1 in region play.

The Indians final game of the season is tonight at the Reservation with game time set for 5:55 P.M. Broadcast time on WNEG will be 5:45 P.M.
