Lions Rout Indians
The Franklin County Lions played all 15 players in Friday night’s 82-48 win over Stephens County and every player scored in the game.
Bentley Huff led the Lions balanced scoring attack with 19 points. Fracquane Wilkins added 16 points and Hudson Huff 14 for Franklin County as the Lions improved to 5-0 in Region 8-AA and 10-10 overall.
Stephens County was led by Colsen Ivey with 13 points and Jaylen Haynie added 11 points for the Indians falling to 0-4 in the region and 1-16 overall.
In the girls’ contest, the Lady Indians and Lady Lions were tied at 15 after the first quarter, but Franklin County grabbed control of the game in the 2nd quarter and rolled to a 61-44 win.
Nykhia Johnson led the Lady Lions with 18 points that included four 3-pointers. Ta” Kiaha Winkfield added 15 points and Avery Burton had 10 for Franklin County improving to 5-0 in region play and 11-8 overall.
Fayeth Ivester scored 17 points to lead Stephens County and Aleria Faulkner was also in double figures with 10 points.
The Lady Indians fall to 0-4 in region play and 2-16 overall.
Both teams will step outside of region play on Saturday when Stephens County hosts Elbert County at Currahee Arena. Airtime is scheduled for 5:45 P.M. with the girl’s tipoff at 6 P.M. on WNEG.
