Lions Huge 1st Inning Leads to Victory

The Hebron Christian Lions scored 8 runs with two outs in the bottom of the 1st inning and rolled to a 13-4 victory over Stephens County Monday night in Dacula.

Stephens County jumped out to an early lead in the top of the inning when Duke Collins led off with a single and scored on Christian Hewitt’s double. Hewitt later scored on Caden Hogan’s single for an early 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the 1st, Stephens County pitcher Landry Williams retired the first two batters before the Lions sent nine more hitters to the plate with 5 hits and culminated with a Tyler Rogers 3-run home run.

The Lions added runs in each inning but the 6th and also added two more home runs with solo shots from Demitri Watts and Gus Steve.

The Indians, now 3-1 in Region-8 AA and 10-6 overall, got an RBI by Findley Ward and a run scored on Will Faulk’s hard hit ball that turned into a 2-base error.

Dallas Rice got the win for Hebron Christian, pitching 6 innings. Williams took his first loss of the season and is now 4-1.

Colsen Ivey made his first appearance of the season and pitched well, going 4 1/3 innings, allowing just two earned runs and three hits while striking out 3.

Hebron Christian improves to 7-0 in the region and 16-1 overall.

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday at Stephens County. Game time is set for 5:55 P.M. with airtime at 5:45 P.M. on WNEG.
