Lions Blank Indians 1-0

The Stephens County Indians were blanked by the Hebron Christian Lions Tuesday evening in a pitcher’s duel 1-0.

University of South Carolina commit Parket Marlatt shut out Stephens County through the first five innings. He scattered three hits and struck out nine. Then lefty Leyton Jones put the finishing touches on the shutout.

Nick Randall, meanwhile, struck out a career high 13 hitters and only gave up two hits.  A bases loaded wild pitch scored the only run in the fifth inning.

Randall now has 108 strikeouts in his Stephens County Indians career.

Craig Thurmond had two of the Indians hits before leaving the game with an injury. Dylan White and Colby Fowler got the other two hits, but neither could come around to score.

The Indians fall to 2-2 Region 8-AAA record and 10-5 overall.

The win for Hebron Christian was their first region win after losing their first three last week to Franklin County.

Next up for the Indians will be a Thursday doubleheader at Hebron Christian. The first game will start at 1:30PM with broadcast time here on WNEG will be 1:15PM.
