Legacy Link to Offer Health Class for Seniors Adults

Legacy Link, along with St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital, will be offering a fun and interactive 6-week program proven to help older adults to better manage their health conditions, improve their quality of life, and lower health care costs.

The classes will be held on Wednesdays from Aug. 7 to Sept. 11 between 2-4 p.m. at St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia.

Participants will learn about strategies to better manage stress, fatigue, pain, and depression; options for improving and maintaining strength, flexibility, and endurance; techniques for better medication management; suggestions for better communication with family and health care providers; healthy options for better nutrition and weight management; process for effective decision-making; and how to evaluate new treatment options.

The goal is for participants to feel better, be in control of their health, and do the things they want to do.

The program is provided by Legacy Link Area Agency on Aging in partnership with St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital and is part of the Georgia HealthMatters wellness initiative.

Legacy Link Area Agency on Aging is based in Gainesville and is the designated agency on aging by the Department of Human Services for the Northeast Georgia Mountains area.

The agency is responsible for advocacy for seniors, planning, and administration of programs, coordination, and monitoring services in the 13-county area, which includes Stephens County.

Federal funds authorized by a wide variety of federal and state laws and programs are utilized by the non-profit agency.
