Learn about the Open Arms Clinic on Wellness Wednesday

The Open Arms Clinic is dedicated to providing adult primary care and medication to the indigent and working poor of Stephens County. It is funded by donations. Open Arms Clinic Executive Director Sherry Beavers speaks with WNEG General Manager Phil Hobbs about the clinic today (September 2) on Wellness Wednesday.

“Well, we fill a healthcare gap here in Stephens County. If you can believe it, for over 20 years, Open Arms Clinic has provided free compassionate healthcare and medication to uninsured adults whose household income is below 125% of the federal poverty level. Many of our patients fall into the healthcare coverage gap, and they have nowhere else to go to receive healthcare.”

Beavers tells more about a Compassion and Action Campaign that is currently underway at the Open Arms Clinic.

“Well, you may have heard about the funding challenges we experienced in 2025 when we nearly had to close our doors. We had an overview of our board, and it has prompted our new board to take a thoughtful look at what it will take to ensure that Open Arms remains strong for years to come. We have begun developing a long-term sustainability plan, and the Compassion and Action Campaign is an important part of that work, and it’s basically a sustainability campaign taking a long look at what it’s going to take.”
