Lakemont man arrested in Stephens County

A Lakemont man was arrested recently for possession of methamphetamine.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on June 10, at approximately 8:45 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to Col. Robert F. Sink Trail to check on a suspicious vehicle.

The deputy was advised they were looking for a gold Ford passenger car with the driver possibly passed out at the wheel.

Shirley says as the deputy was checking the trail, they saw a gold Ford Five Hundred pass with an inoperable brake light.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the trail.

As the deputy was speaking to the driver, identified as Timothy Leland, he saw the passenger, identified as Joshua Edmonds, slumped over the dash of the vehicle.

The deputy went to check on Edmonds and asked him to exit the vehicle.

After some brief questioning and a pat down of Edmonds a quantity of suspected methamphetamine was located.

The deputy arrested Edmonds for the suspected methamphetamine.

After a further search no additional contraband was located.

The driver, Leland, was released at the scene with a courtesy warning for the brake light violation.

The passenger, 28-year-old Joshua Matthew Edmonds, of Lakemont was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Edmonds is currently out on bond from Stephens County Jail.
