Lady Indians Win-Boys Fall Just Short at West Hall
The Stephens County Lady Indians picked up their first win of the season Friday night with a 53-26 win at West Hall.
The Lady Indians took a nine-point lead into halftime and then outscored the Lady Spartans 13-3 in the 3rd quarter to roll to the victory.
Ivey Jackson led a balanced scoring attack with 12 points and Aleria Faulkner added 11. Ten different Lady Indians scored in the game.
West Hall, now 3-5 on the season, was led by Zymeria Farmer with 8 points.
The Lady Indians are now 1-7 on the season.
The nightcap was a back-and-forth affair with the Stephens County boys having a pair of shots late to tie the game or take the lead but coming up short and falling to West Hall 60-58.
West Hall’s largest lead in the game was six points with just over 2 minutes left in the game but the Indians made some big plays late to put them in a position to tie or lead.
Stephens County was led in scoring by Colson Ivey with a game-high of 27 points, with 14 of those points coming in the 3rd quarter. Jet Black was also in double figures with 17 points.
West Hall, now 5-5 on the season, was led by Troy Smith with 22 points, and Landon Bennett added 17 points with all coming in the 2nd half.
Stephens County falls to 1-6 on the season.
Both teams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Madison County with the girls’ game beginning at 6 P.M. Airtime is scheduled for 5:45 P.M. on WNEG.
