Lady Indians Win Big in Elite Eight Opener
The Stephens County Lady Indians scored 5 runs in each of the first two innings and 6 more runs in the 3rd inning to roll to a 16-0 win over Miller Grove Wednesday in the GHSA AA State Softball Tournament in Columbus.
The game was called after 3 innings due to the 15-run rule.
In the circle, Riley Walker and Bailee Shedd combined for a no-hitter and allowed just 3 baserunners.
The top of the order Hallee Shirley and Fayeth Ivester combined to reach base all 6 times and both had inside the park home runs. Walker and Carson Stowe hit over the fence home runs and combined for 7 RBI’s in the game.
The Lady Indians had a total of 13 hits in the game and were aided by 6 Wolverine errors.
Stephens County will now face Max Preps #1 ranked Appling County on Thursday. Appling County defeated Pike County 6-1 on Wednesday. The other two games on Wednesday had Union County defeating Sonoraville 2-1 and Morgan County defeating Rockmart 2-1.
Thursday’s other games will include Union County vs. Morgan County in the winner’s bracket, and elimination games that include Pike County vs. Miller Grove and Sonoraville vs. Rockmart.
