Lady Indians softball team defeats East Hall, 2-1

The Stephens County Lady Indians softball team traveled to East Hall Saturday and defeated the Lady Vikings, 2 to 1.

The game was tied at one with Stephens County batting in the top of the fifth when Aly Singletary singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

On the mound, Singletary struck out three, while East Hall pitchers sat down eight.  In the first inning, the Lady Indians scored one run when Singletary singled.

In the bottom of the third inning, East Hall tied things up at one.  Singletary took the win for Indians.

She surrendered one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking one.  Stephens County racked up 11 hits–Singletary and Laney McGee each collected three hits to lead the Lady Indians.

In the second game Saturday at East Hall, it was a pitcher’s duel, but Stephens County came out on top defeating Union County 3 to 2.

The Lady Indians’ pitchers allowed just six hits to Union County.

Stephens County got things started in the first inning when Kasey Westmoreland drove in two on a home run.

Allie Huff earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for the Lady Indians.  She allowed five hits and two runs over six innings, striking out six and walking one.

Aly Singletary threw one inning in relief, and recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Stephens County.

The Lady Indians record improves to 6 & 5 on the season.
