Lady Indians Softball Advance to the Elite Eight

The Lady Indians celebrate reaching the Elite 8 Wednesday with their team member who wears Number 8–Bailee Shedd.

Stephens County Lady Indians scored nine runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Columbus Lady Blue Devils 13-0 on Wednesday and take the Sweet 16 series 2 games to 1.
In Wednesday’s game, an error started the scoring in the third inning followed by Nyleigh Hutto’s RBI single, Carley Funderburke homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Kylee Glaze hit a grand slam to centerfield.
Riley Walker earned the win for Lady Indians. The starter surrendered four hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking two.  Stephens County accumulated 12 hits in the game. Glaze led the way with four runs batted in. Walker, Hutto, Maddison McGee, and Funderburke each collected two hits for Stephens County.
Stephens County’s record is now 21-6. Miller Grove will enter the game with a 19-2 record.
Stephens County will now move on to play in the Elite 8 in Columbus beginning Wednesday.   The Lady Indians will play Miller Grove at 11 A.M. with airtime scheduled for 10:45 A.M. on WNEG.
