Lady Indians Roll in Opening Round of State Playoffs

Ranajah Verdell scored 19 of her game high 24 points in the first half to lead the Stephens County Lady Indians to a 67-49 victory over Redan in the opening round of the AAA State Playoffs Tuesday night at Currahee Arena.

The Lady Indians led by 10 points at the half, and broke open the game in the 3rd quarter.

Bre Taylor scored 13 and KiKi Howard had 12 to also score in double figures for the Lady Indians.

Stephens County improves to 18-6 on the season. Redan, the #4 seed from Region-5, finishes the year at 10-9.

In other girls state playoff games involving teams from Region-8 AAA Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Oconee County 40-36, and Westminster defeated Franklin County 59-45.

The Lady Indians will now host the #2 seed from Region-6 Coahulla Creek on Friday night at Currahee Arena at 6 P.M.

Coahulla Creek was a 64-60 winner over White County on Tuesday night and is 22-4 on the season.
