Lady Indians pick up first region softball win against North Oconee

The Stephens County Lady Indians Softball team picked up a win in their first region contest of the season as they defeated North Oconee Thursday night at home, 5 to 3.

The game was tied at 2 with Stephens County batting in the bottom of the 5th inning when Aly Singletary hit a single to drive in the go-ahead run.

The Lady Indians opened up the scoring in the 2nd inning when Kasey Westmoreland hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring a run.

Singletary earned the win on the mound for Stephens County as she went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and striking out 11.

The Lady Indians collected 8 hits with Singletary and Laney McGee leading the way with 2 hits each.

Stephens County’s record improves to 3 & 3 overall.
