Lady Indians Pick Up Big Region Win

The Stephens County Lady Indians Softball team picked up a big home Region-8 win on Thursday outscoring St. Pius 11-5.

The Lady Indians trailed early, but used a huge 2nd inning scoring six runs to break open a 2-2 tie.

Trailing 2-0 after the top of the 1st, the Lady Indians Aly Singletary had a 2 run single to tie the score after one. The Lady Indians big 2nd inning had many contributions as Laney McGee drove in two runs with a double, and Kaylin Snyder, Kasey Westmoreland, Tyra Hunter, and Brenna McCall added RBI’s.

The Lady Indians collected 15 hits in the game with Singletary and McGee picking up 3 hits each, and two hits each from Westmoreland and Jasmine Lowery,

Singletary picked up the win on the mound going 3 innings and allowing 4 runs on seven hits and striking out three. Allie Huff pitched well in relief allowing just a run.

The Lady Indians improve to 2-2 in Region-8 play and 7-6 overall. Stephens County will host Cedar Shoals in a non-region game on Tuesday at 5 P.M.
