Lady Indians improve to 3-0, Indians fall to 0-2 in high school basketball

The Stephens County Lady Indians basketball team ran their record to 3-0 Tuesday evening with a  57-37 win over the Lady Lions of Franklin County. Three Lady Indians were in double figures. Renajah Verdell had 17 points, Na Na Eades had 11 and Bre Taylor scored 10 points.

Stephens County jumped out to an 18-5 lead and never looked back. Brooklyn Steeple chipped in with 7 points, Kiki Howard had 5, Savannah Broska and Mari McNeal each had 4 points and Kayle Smith had three.

Bailee Aderholt led the Lady Lions with 12 points. with the loss, the Lady Lions drop to 0-3 on the season.

The Stephens County boys battled hard, but took a 63-53 loss in the night-cap. Titus Brown led the Lions in scoring with 16 points. Micah Roebuck had 12 points and Keyland Rutledge had 11.

Tyrece Mackie led the charge for the Indians with 18 points. Kenny Colwell had 11, Javian Hightower had 9, D.J. Hampton with 6, Chris Sinclair had 5 and D.J. Jones had four points.

The Indians are looking for their first win of the season following losses to Banks County and Franklin County.

The Indians and Lady Indians will be on the road Friday night at Jackson County. Tip off time is 7 p.m. and air time on WNEG will be 6:45 p.m.
