Lady Indians Fall to LaFayette in State

The Lafayette Ramblers produced big innings in both games and swept the Stephens County Indians two games to none Tuesday night in LaFayette to advance to the 2nd round of the AAAA state softball playoffs.

In game one, Lafayette scored 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning and rolled to a 9-1 victory in six innings. Carlee Corbin went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI’s and Madison Pettigrew added 3 RBI’s including a two-run home run in the 1st inning.

The Lady Indians run came in the 5th inning when Kaylin Snyder singled and scored on Aly Singletary’s RBI single.

Laney McGee and Tyra Hunter had two hits each for the Lady Indians.

In game two, LaFayette batted around to score 4 runs in the 2nd inning, and added one run in each of the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th innings to win going away 8-0.

Railee Lynn had a home run and Sam Adkins and Haynie Gilstrap had two RBI’s each.

Nicky Yancy and Pettigrew combined to limit the Lady Indians to just 5 hits in the shutout. McGee again led the Indians reaching base all three at bats and getting 2 hits.

Yancy picked up the win in both games.

Lafayette improves to 17-10 on the season. Stephens County’s season ends at 13-14.

Three seniors that were part of 4 state playoffs, including two trips the final eight and a state runner up team, played their final high school games. The three seniors are Kasey Westmoreland, Aly Singletary, and Tyra Hunter.
