Ira Douglas Warren Masten

Ira Douglas Warren Masten was fully and completely healed on August 24, 2026, and rests in the arms of Christ. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, family, and memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.  Douglas was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering loyalty and love for those around her. She found joy in the simple blessings of a lifetime spent with family and fellowship shared with friends.

Born August 9, 1934, in Cumberland County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of David and Nellie Grey Warren. Douglas was a beautiful soul whose greatest treasures were never found in possessions, but in the people she loved. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she gave freely of herself to her family, friends, church, and community.

Douglas attended High Point College, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority and was crowned Miss High Point College. This is also where she met the love of her life, Herbert Masten. They were married for 71 years. When not at home, Douglas could be found at First Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member, at WNEG Radio as the receptionist, or at the annual extended family gatherings at Topsail Beach, North Carolina.

Douglas was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, David Warren, Jr., and Robert Warren, and her sister, Dorothy Warren Hubbard, and infant sister, Deborah Warren, as well as her great-granddaughter, Nellie Renee Free.

 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Ken Masten (Debra), Warren Masten (Leanne), and Grey Thomas (Greg); her grandchildren, Amy Knight (Jack), Emily Masten, Caleb Masten (Laurel), Ethan Masten (Mia), Seth Masten (Lauren), Austin Yearwood (Marlee), Alexis Free (Dylan), Abby  Thomas, Beau Thomas, and Addi Masten; great-grandchildren, Bentlee Yearwood, Carter Masten, Charlee Yearwood, Hatchett Masten, Scout Masten, Daxlee Yearwood, and Calder Masten; numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

 

A special thanks to the Wilkinson Center staff for their loving care and support throughout this journey.

Douglas’ family was her greatest legacy. The love she poured into her husband, children, and grandchildren will continue in the lives she touched, the traditions she started, and the family she helped shape. While we mourn the earthly loss of a woman we love so dearly, we do not mourn without hope but rejoice in the promise of Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 26, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Toccoa First Methodist Church with The Reverend Robin Parr, The Reverend Tom Mosley and The Reverend Eddie Herring officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Caleb Masten, Ethan Masten, Seth Masten, Austin Yearwood, Beau Thomas and Will Teachey.

 

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Toccoa First Methodist Church, 333 E. Tugalo Street, Toccoa, Georgia 30577.

 

Entombment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Ira Douglas Warren Masten.
