Intergovernmental SPLOST VII Meeting to be Rescheduled

The next intergovernmental meeting to discuss SPLOST VII is tentatively scheduled for just after the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Due to ongoing County Commission departmental budget talks, the official public notice from the County of Monday’s intergovernmental meeting was not sent out in time and the planned meeting  with the City Commission was canceled.

WNEG News will let listeners know when the talks, which are open to the public, will be held as soon as a definite date and time is announced.

Collections of the one-cent sales tax will go into effect on July 1, 2020 but voters must approve the next Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax via a special referendum in November, 2019.

If approved, the County and municipalities will begin receiving revenue from SPLOST VII in January 2021.
