Indians Wrestling Team on a Roll

The Stephens County Indians Wrestling team has been on quite a roll since Christmas break.

The Indians have went 11-2 since the break to improve to a record of 16-12 overall.

The Indians took 2 matches over rivals Franklin County and Hart County on Tuesday night including a dramatic 39-36 win over the host team Franklin County. Nick Randall got a pin to secure the win.

Since the break, the Indians have had victories in South Carolina and at Dacula High School.

The Indians finished 3rd in last week’s Region-8 AAAA area tournament. Stephens County opened the tournament losing in a close match to St. Pius, but rebounded with a 1 point win over host Oconee County. The match was decided in dramatic fashion with the Indians Nathan Walker getting a pin for the win. The Indians then defeated St. Pius in a rematch by 3 points to finish 3rd.

The Stephens County Indians Wrestling team, under Coach Matt Miller, will celebrate Senior night a week from today on January 23rd.
