Indians Win Big at East Jackson

The Stephens County Indians basketball team took little time in dismantling East Jackson, outscoring the Eagles 25-3 in the 1st quarter, and rolling to a 70-24 victory Wednesday night at East Jackson.

Every player dressed for the game scored for the Indians.

Aaron Scott led all scorers with 17 points and all coming in the first half. Corey Richie and Tyrece Mackie were also in double figures with 10 points each.

The Indians, now 2-3 in region-8 AAA play and 5-15 overall, held East Jackson to only 8 points in the 2nd half.

The Eagles fall to 0-5 in the Region, and 1-16 overall.

In the girls’ game, the Stephens County Lady Indians led East Jackson by as many as 8 points and trailed by only 3 points with 3 minutes to go but fell by a final of 54-44.

The Lady Indians dominated the backboards in the game, but the difference was the Lady Eagles eight 3-pointers to none by the Lady Indians.

MyAngel Carter had another fine Region game scoring 17 points for the Lady Indians.

East Jackson was led by Antonia Pittman with 23 points.

East Jackson improves to 4-1 in region-8 play and 16-2 overall. The Lady Indians fall to 0-5 in the region and 1-19 overall.

The Indians and Lady Indians return to play on Friday night when they travel to Carnesville to face Franklin County. Airtime is scheduled for 6:45 P.M. on 93.1 FM & AM-630 WNEG.
