Indians Tennis Teams Cap Senior Night with Shutouts

The Stephens County High School tennis teams hosted Monroe Area in Region-8 play on Tuesday. It was the final regular season matches for the Lady Indians and Indians.

The Indians got their 5th shutout of the season with a 5-0 win.  Griffin Wilkinson, Kenny Colwell, and Dawson Childs won their singles matches.  Kyle Watson & Kegan Mealor and Levi Spencer & Clayton Bishop won their doubles matches.  The Indians finish the regular season at 6-4 in Region-8 play and 11-4 overall.

The Lady Indians got their 11th shutout of the season with another 5-0 win.  Madison Rogers, Ali Wilson, and Gabbi Boyd won their singles matches.  Kaylin Snyder & Tenley Boyd and Abby Whitfield & Kathryn Stroud won their doubles matches.  The Lady Indians finish the regular season at 8-2 in Region-8 play and 13-2 overall.
It was also senior night at the SCHS tennis complex and the following seniors were honored:
Lady Indians-Gabbi Boyd, Madison Rogers, and Ali Wilson
Indians- Kenny Colwell, Kegan Mealor, and Kyle Watson.
The Indians tennis teams will be off until April 13th when they will participate in the Region-8 tournament at Oconee County.
The Lady Indians will be the 2nd seed in the tournament which means they have earned a bid to the state playoffs. The Indians boys team will be seeded 3rd and will have to win the opening match with the Region’s 6th seeded team to earn a bid to the state playoffs.
