Indians Take On Warriors For Homecoming Game Tonight

The Stephens County High School football team will return to the Reservation tonight, September 13, to battle the Oconee County Warriors as part of Homecoming Weekend. The opening kick against the Warriors is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Indians will be looking to bounce back from a 42 to 28 loss against the Dragons on the road in Jefferson County last week, and head into tonight’s game with a 3 & 1 record, while Oconee County brings a 1 & 3 record after defeating Loganville last Friday, 45 to 7. 

Last year, the Indians won a close game with Oconee County, 17 to 14. But unlike the previous 7 meetings between the teams, this year’s game is not a Region matchup, as Oconee County is in Region 8-AAA, while the Indians are now in 8-AA.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Stephens County’s Wingbacks coach, Gordon Thigpen, said the Indians will face an Oconee County team that has a big offensive and defensive line:

Homecoming activities will take place prior to tonight’s home game, and the Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime. Nominees are seniors Adalin DeForest, Ella Batson, Callie Canup, Cloey Harding and Maddison McGee. 

The Homecoming King will be announced tomorrow night at the Homecoming dance.

Yesterday, Sept. 12, students at Stephens County High School took advantage of a Safe Driving Summit hosted at the High School and presented by the Lutzie 43 Foundation and the Georgia Department of Transportation.

In the other games tonight, Franklin County will host West Oak, South Carolina, Habersham Central will travel to Loganville, Banks County will play at Cherokee Bluff, Rabun County will host Bremen, White County will travel to Pickens County, and Madison County will host Jackson County. Hart County, East Jackson, and Commerce have the night off.
