Indians Spoil Wolverines Senior Night with Road Win

The Stephens County Indians went on the road Wednesday night at top-ranked Prince Avenue Christian and came away with a 6-3 win in Bogart.

It was senior night for the Wolverines as they honored 10 seniors as well as recognized the Indians seniors.

Stephens County, who had lost to Prince Avenue 10-0 at home on Monday night, jumped out to an early lead in the top of the 1st inning when Noah Strickland delivered a two-out bases loaded double scoring three and giving the Indians a 3-0 lead.

The Indians would add a run in the 2nd inning on Dru Daves solo home run, and a run in the 3rd inning when Tyler Zigan doubled and scored on Konnor Loudermilk’s RBI single to give the Indians a 5-0 lead.

Prince Avenue Christian narrowed the lead to 5-3 but the Indians got an insurance run in the top of the 7th inning on a Loudermilk booming home run to make the score 6-3. It was Loudermilk’s 5th home run of the season.

The Wolverines threatened in the bottom of the 7th inning but left two base runners stranded as the Indians got the final out.

Hayden Scott was again outstanding for the Indians on the mound pitching 6 solid innings with only 1 earned run on 6 hits while striking out 6. Loudermilk pitched the scoreless 7th inning to pick up the save.

Prince Avenue pitcher Cole Broxton picked up the loss pitching 4 innings with Bryson Towler pitching the final 3 innings.
