Indians Split DH at East Jackson

The Stephens County Indians scored 5 runs in the first, and 7 runs in the 3rd inning, to earn a split of a doubleheader and take the nightcap 12-1 in five innings at East Jackson on Friday night.

Cruz Mullinix was outstanding on the mound for the Indians allowing just one run on two hits and striking out 12 Eagles hitters in five innings.

The Indians got 3 RBI’s from Jacob Pruitt, two from Seth Jameson, and one each from Carson Worley, Ayden Garmon, Hank Arrowood, Craig Thurmond, and Mullinix.

In game one, the Eagles came from behind to take a 7-6 victory.

The Indians jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but the Eagles scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th to tie. After the Indians came back with a run in the top of the 5th, the Eagles scored two in the bottom of the inning and held on for the victory.

Bradyn Redding went 6 innings to pick up the win on the mound, and Aiden Holley picked up a save.

Nick Randall took the tough loss in relief.

Ian Rumsey had a solo home run for the Indians, and Garmon and Worley also had RBI’s.

The Indians are now 2-7 in Region-8 play and 7-13 overall. East Jackson is also 2-7 in the Region and now 5-14 overall.

Stephens County will step outside of the region on Monday when they host St. Joseph Catholic from Greenville, SC. Airtime is set for 1:15 P.M. on WNEG.
